Movie Night REPLAY!

The school was abuzz with excitement as the dismissal bell rang on Thursday afternoon. With Pro-D Day the next day, the long weekend kicked off with great anticipation as ticket holders waited to return when movie theatre (aka gym) doors opened at 6PM.

Floor mats and chairs were laid out (thank you, Grade 7 leaders!), the corn popped, and the pizzas sorted when families began to file in. As the children claimed the best spots to watch the night’s showing, the concession stand opened with an assortment of snacks that included a special surprise for the young and the young at heart. Filled with sweets at only $1 a bag, Karen’s Kandies flew off the counter!

At 6:30PM, the lights dimmed as the opening credits began to roll. For the next hour and 40 minutes, giggles and gasps warmed parents’ hearts as friends and families shared a beautiful experience. A brief intermission offered more opportunities to socialize and replenish depleted snacks before kids settled back in for the exciting conclusion of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

When the lights came back on, the smiles said it all. We didn’t need official reviews to know that the kids enjoyed the evening, especially the bonus minutes of extra play afterwards while parents helped stack chairs back up. We thank you for your help, and are ever grateful for the hard-working crew of volunteers that not only make light work of cleanup, but do it with enthusiasm and great spirit.

With tickets selling out within 9 hours of their release, we heard you loud and clear. Brantford families want more Movie Nights! We appreciate all the post-event survey feedback that we’ve received, know that there is high demand for increased capacity, and will endeavour to make the next sale of tickets fair and accessible.

You also told us that the pizza could be warmer, so our team will brainstorm ways to make that happen or offer another convenient dinner choice. As long as logistics and manpower allow it, we will try our best to enhance our offerings for future events. This includes more mats for the kiddos’ comfort!

Finally, we asked you to tell us what you liked most about the event, and one sentiment prevailed. Here is a sampling of what you said:

“So fun to see kids hanging out with their friends outside of school hours. Getting to know my children’s friends and their parents was also great!”

“Kids gathering with friends and getting to buy snacks on their own.”

“Families joining together in a fun school event, and seeing the happiness on the kids faces!”

This is why we do what we do. Thank you all for coming ❤️.
