There are few better ways to wrap up the week than gathering the whole family for a relaxed, joy-filled afternoon, so make plans to join us for our PACnic After School on FRIDAY, MAY 22 FROM 3 – 5PM. Bring everyone along and enjoy time together with your school community while the kids play, explore, and connect.
Bring blankets, lawn chairs, or whatever you like to set up a cozy little home base for your kiddos when they need a quick break before heading back into the fun. Feel free to bring balls, nets, bubbles, munchies, and anything else you’d normally take to the park for a perfect afternoon with friends.

It’s going to be a warm day, so we’ve got your kids covered with their favourite cold treat. Jumbo freezies are $2 each, so bring cash! Shayla’s Sweet Treats will also be spinning cotton candy on site if you’d like a different kind of sweet to kick off the afternoon; she should have card payment available, but cash is always the most reliable option. If you pre-ordered Columbia Street Sandwich combos, look for the tables with the yellow bins and parent volunteers helping distribute orders. Unfortunately, there will not be any for sale, so if you didn’t pre-order but think your kids will want something to eat, please pack snacks along with any fun outdoor play items.
Wild Education will be set up inside the school for amazing close encounters with a variety of reptiles, insects, and other fascinating creatures that crawl and slither. Look for the lawn sign, where small groups will gather and be led inside for a hands-on, up-close experience. Tour groups will head in approximately every 15 minutes.
Burnaby Parks & Rec is a staple at our events and will once again be on hand for button-making fun, along with a NEW photo booth experience where everyone can take home a printed photo to remember the day.
Don’t forget to check out our tattoo station, where you can get a critter on your arm just like the ones you see and touch during your Wild Education visit.
By 4pm, the kiddos might be a little tuckered out from all the running around. It’s the perfect time to stop by Justin the Naturalist at his Nature Nook, set up on the blue picnic table near the garden. We won’t spoil the surprise, but he’ll have some incredible nature discoveries and wonders from his many outdoor adventures.
If you’re familiar with Geocaching, you’ll love our unique Brantford version. If you’ve never heard of it, you’re in for a treat! It’s a scavenger-style hunt with 10 hidden containers around the school grounds. How good are you at finding hidden things and solving puzzles? Inside each cache is a letter to record and use to unscramble a mystery word. The fun is in the search, exploration, and teamwork as you try to find them all. And if you enjoy this, wait until you discover real-world Geocaching, with hidden caches waiting to be found all over the world.
Who says kids should have all the fun? In another Brantford first, we’re setting up a space just for the grown-ups to join in the action. Based on a recent survey, the favourites are 3-on-3 basketball and doubles badminton.
