Grade 5 Be Active Program
The Grade 5 Be Active Pass gives Burnaby students in Grade 5 FREE access to a variety of drop-in recreation opportunities across the City from September to September (yes, including summer!). Pass holders can enjoy these activities:

- GOOD TO KNOW: Stay tuned for an updated form for the 2026/27 school year, which is usually released at the end of summer
Parents bring completed forms to a local community centre, along with:
- The child’s birth certificate
- Proof of residency (e.g., parent’s driver’s license or utility bill)
FAIR Play Program Application
The FAIR Play Program is Burnaby Parks, Recreation and Culture’s financial assistance program that helps eligible residents access recreation and culture opportunities, regardless of financial circumstances. Applications are required each year and approved participants receive an annual Be Active Pass for each household member, plus a FAIR Play credit that can be used toward registered programs and select memberships, passes, and services, helping remove financial barriers to staying active and engaged in the community.
For example, a Burnaby family of three with a combined annual income at or below $50,837 may qualify for assistance under the program’s income criteria. If approved, each family member would receive a Be Active Pass, along with a per-person credit (for example, $500 per child or $250 per youth/adult depending on age), which can be applied toward eligible recreation activities and programs.

- GOOD TO KNOW: Applications usually take time to process, but if you physically take your completed form to a community centre, you will be offered a FREE 1 month pass to use while you wait
The City of Burnaby would love to hear from you. Take a moment to complete the following surveys and tell them how they’re doing!
